Price Comparison of Owner vs Renter… Timeshare Traveler Episode 249

I wanted to show the difference of what a person who owns a timeshare pays based on the maintenance fees vs. what it would cost to rent it. The purpose of this comparison was to provide people with the understanding of the savings you have as a timeshare owner. This savings is how you offset the purchase price over time. It is how you make timeshares “worth it”.

The comparison that I created was the cost to use a week based on my maintenance costs. I determined the cost per point by taking my total maintenance fees divided by my total points to get my cost per point (Exact numbers vary based on what you own. I then found a reservation and calculated the cost by multiplying the number of points for the reservation times the cost per point. When looking at the rental cost, I used Tripadvisor since they have access to the main third party travel sites for the lowest cost.
