I enjoy being on the big Island of Hawaii because it has a lot of diversity. You have Kona coffee tasting, you have Hilo which is a wonderful small town to visit, and you have a variety of beaches. In some ways it is like having Northern and Southern California all in one. You have the ocean spots with lava rocks which is like some of the Northern California beaches (or Oregon). And yes, there are also traditional beaches with sand and surf.
I put together a short video together to highlight the many types of places along the coast of Hawaii. I did not cover every option… There are black sand beaches on Hawaii as well. But for those who like the tranquility of a variety of ocean views, the big island is a treasure.
