Located about three hours east of the San Francisco Bay Area, you will find a many wineries in the California foothills. I visited two of them, the Twisted Oak winery and Stevenot winery. These wineries were chosen because they both had wines made from the Tempernillo grape which is one of my favorites. I bought a bottle of Tempernillo from each winery and did a taste-off between them
Both the wineries had outdoor tasting available and were very friendly. Both were relatively small compared to many of the wineries in Napa which made these visits more special. Ordered a meat and cheese platter at Stevenot winery (you can order it when you schedule your tasting).
