If you take a trip to Kauai and you love Rum or a little adventure, you owe it to yourself to take a trip to Koloa Rum for some free Rum Tasting (must be over 21). The Koloa Rum tasting facility is about 20 minutes from the airport and close to the Poipu resorts. It is about an hour drive from the Princeville resorts. The location is beautiful and the history of growing sugar cane (there is a train tour on property). The Sugar plantations are gone on Kauai except for the sugar cane grown for making Koloa Rum. You can taste the rum for free and purchase on-site or even at Costco.
The presenters mix in a little Hawaiian culture and make the presentation fun. Be aware that you will consume about 2.5 shots of rum during the 30 minute tasting, so please be careful and drive responsibly.
