How to compare timeshare costs vs. hotels (Hilton Grand Vacations and Worldmark examples)

Have you ever wanted to compare the nightly cost of staying in a timeshare vs. the hotels in a similar location? Well, I always look at my weekly / daily costs of each vacation I take and I compare it to costs of other locations. In this video, I compare staying in a timeshare vs. a hotel or renting the same unit using prices found on Tripadvisor. I used Tripadvisor because they offer discounted prices. I used actual bookings I have made in timeshares, so the comparison are factual.

As you will see from the examples, the timeshare costs are lower, and you can use these lower costs as a way to offset the original purchase price of the timeshare. My experience is that you can do an estimated ROI calculation of somewhere between 5 – 7 years to return your purchase price if you buy retail or 1-2 years if you buy resale (not provided in the video).
