Stretching Timeshare points – Buy only what you need. In this video review, I explain how you should purchase only purchase the points you need. I view point usage as a tiered approach. The tiers of points you use follow below
1) Leverage you points for the hard to get reservations – Each timeshare company has high demand locations that need to be reserved as soon as they are available… These are usually the places most salespeople push and can frustrate beginning timeshare owners because they can’t get them.
2) Use reduced rate fees for places that are popular but highly available – Find the locations that are more available and only reserve them at a discount
3) Use last minute deals within each timeshare group – Within the last 60 days, you can get steeper discounts within the timeshare company before they push the units to the third party resellers.
4) Look for weekly specials – I have bookmarks setup to see the last minute specials from each of the timeshares…. I check them once a week (takes 5 minutes)… I’ve sometimes re-booked a vacation I already had scheduled but for less points.
5) Leverage RCI and Interval International for last minute deals under $400. See prior video in the description for the link.
